The Southwest's colorful past still lives and even thrives in some venues. It is kept alive through historians, re-enactors and relics of the past and nurtured by folk not willing to let it go. The mountain man, cavalry trooper, cowboy and Indian, including Apache, Tohono O'odham, Navajo, Hopi, and Pima, still strive to preserve their pasts and their traditional lifestyles.
